Let’s talk about motherhood. It’s beautiful. It’s fulfilling. It’s everything Instagram tells you it is.
But that’s not the motherhood I’m writing about today.
Because while motherhood is amazing, it’s also the hardest, most all-consuming job you will ever have.
Your body spends months stretching, shifting, and enduring things no one really prepares you for—all to grow a tiny human. Then, just when you think you’ve conquered that battle, you enter the labor room, where time ceases to exist. Hours (and sometimes days!) pass before that little human finally evacuates your body. And just when you think, Okay, I did it. I survived, they send you home.
No manual. No step-by-step guide. Just you, your healing body, and a baby who looks at you like, So what’s next, ma?
Some moms get a fancy book—like the one I got that felt more like prepping for the GMAT than parenting. Others just wing it. But either way, the message is the same: Congratulations! You are now responsible for keeping a whole human alive.
And guess what? Your body’s not done working. Nope. Now it has to produce food for this tiny, ever-hungry person. Oh, and sleep? Who needs that? Whether you’re running on two hours of rest, dealing with stitches in places you’d rather not mention (yeah, I had six in my uhhhh-yeahhhh), or barely functioning, society expects you to be all smiles because—you guessed it—you’re a mother now.
Everything changes. Your body, your priorities, your entire identity. You start mourning the old you while trying to figure out who this new you is supposed to be. And let’s be real—sometimes, you feel so lost.
Postpartum hits differently for everyone. Some battle depression that makes them feel completely alone. Others struggle with a body that no longer feels like theirs, hormones that have lost all sense of direction, and the overwhelming reality that life as they knew it is gone.
And let’s not even get into the housekeeping, the mental load, or the emotional exhaustion—especially if you’re doing this alone or with a partner who just doesn’t get it. If you’re lucky enough to have a supportive partner, you have someone to lean on. If not, you carry the weight of it all.

But here’s the thing about motherhood. About women.
Somehow, even in the exhaustion, the chaos, the moments where you just want to scream into a pillow, there’s a strength inside you. A strength that keeps you going. A strength that lets you smile, laugh, and even cherish the moments—because despite everything, motherhood is still magic.
So to every mother, every mother-to-be: If no one has told you today—Well done, mama. You are doing amazing.
Your family is blessed to have you.
Your stretch marks? Victory scars.
That fupa? Still sexy.
No one can mother like you, and you should be so proud of yourself—because I sure am.
I see you!
To the old you—thank you. But to the new you? She’s just getting started. You are blossoming, mama, and the world hasn’t even seen you in full bloom yet.
