One of the biggest struggles of single parenthood? Finances. Not just because you’re solely responsible, but because your flexibility is different now. You need a job that lets you be present for your child—because you are all they have.
I remember getting an interview for a job, but I wasn’t excited. It would have meant dropping Phoebe at daycare by 7 AM and picking her up at 6 PM. She would be the first in and the last out. And no amount of money was worth that to me. So, I chose part-time jobs. I leaned into my food business. I found another way.
But here’s what I’ve learned—being a single mum means I have God as both my Father and my partner. And He is neither an irresponsible Father nor a wicked partner. He ALWAYS comes through.
Let me tell you a story.
When God is Your Provider

Last Valentine’s Day was Phoebe’s first, and I really wanted to get her a cute little outfit for pictures—something to mark the moment. But it was an extra expense, and my list was already long. Sure, I could have asked my parents (shoutout to them for being the absolute best), but I didn’t want to. So, I let it go. I picked up some dollar store petals instead, thinking, it’s fine, it’s not a big deal.
But God had already taken care of it.
That Sunday before Valentine’s, someone from church—someone I didn’t even talk to like that—walked up to me and handed me the cutest little Valentine’s onesie for Phoebe. She didn’t know our situation. She had no idea what that small gift meant to me. But God knew.
I cried. Of course, I did. Because I hadn’t even asked God, but He saw the quiet desire in my heart and He provided.
This is just one of the many, many ways He has taken care of us.
So when people ask, How have you been surviving? I tell them the truth—GOD.
If you’re reading this and you’re in a place of lack, if you’re drowning in worry and you don’t know how you’re going to make it—I want you to know that God takes care of His own. He will come through for you in ways you cannot even imagine.
I know trusting God is hard when things feel like they’re only getting worse. But take a deep breath. Look back. Somewhere, somehow, you’ll see His hand still working behind the scenes.

And today, I want to pray for you. Even if you don’t know Jesus yet, just this one time—please believe.
I pray that God makes a way where there seems to be none.
I pray that He calms every storm and gives you peace.
I pray that He restores, in a way only He can, everything you have lost.
And most of all, I pray that you get to experience the fullness of Him.
In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
